Do you struggle with noticing when you are hungry, or when you need to sleep? Do you want to support strenghtening your personal boundaries? Have you experienced burnout or been diagnosed with CPTSD? Trauma Sensitive Yoga maybe a practice to consider.
Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TSY) is a movement based therapeutic practice designed for teens and adults who have experienced childhood or relational trauma. It offers you the opportunity to focus on your own movement experience and make choices relating to your own personal experience. Research shows that TSY is a stand alone therapy for trauma and is also effective when practiced as part of a treatment plan like talk therapy. You need no prior yoga experience to join. There are no physical requirements for the practice. The movements chosen are based on the needs of the participants who register.
If you have joined a talk therapy and thought, this just isn’t for me, or if you your’re ‘all talked out’ then this class maybe something for you. Research shows that regular TSY practices are just as effective as talk therapy for people with symptoms of burnout, anxiety and depression or those who experience trauma related triggers. We don’t talk about the past, we explore movement to support embodiment and noticing the now.
