Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a movement based therapeutic practice designed for teens and adults who have experienced childhood or relational trauma. TCTSY is an evidence-based therapeutic practice that offers participants the opportunity to focus on their own movement experience and make choices relating to their personal experience. Research shows that TCTSY is a stand alone therapy for trauma and is also effective when practiced as part of a treatment plan like talk therapy.
We offer a 5 week course of 1 hour movement practices. Once the course has started the group is closed to new participants until the following course. You need no prior yoga experience to join. There are no physical requirements for the practice. The movements chosen are based on the needs of the participants who register.
Kathleen was trained by the Centre for Trauma and Embodiment at the JRI in Boston. She has worked in mental health support for over 20 years and finds the use of movement as a therapeutic tool to be a most useful tool for addressing trauma and other mental health concerns. Kathleen is a certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator in good standing with the Centre for Trauma and Embodiment and an active member of Trauma Sensitive Yoga Nederland.
